Gilberto Romero Honored E-mail
Lieutenant Governor Diane Denish, a strong advocate for public health issues, presented the 2007 New Mexico Governor’s Recognition of Achievement in Aging Award to Mr. Gilbert Romero.  During the opening session of the New Mexico Conference on Aging, Lieutenant Governor Diane Denish spoke eloquently detailing the life and achievements of Mr. Romero over many years to improve the public health services available to New Mexico senior citizens.

Mr. Romero spoke to thank Lt. Governor Denish, Deborah Armstrong, Secretary New Mexico Aging & Long Term Services Department, the New Mexico Conference on Aging, and others.  “I would like to express my gratitude for all the opportunities I have had to advocate for the empowerment of people in New Mexico to work together and makes changes in health, mental health and every day issues that impact their lives.”

The New Mexico Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (NMDVR) supports disability efforts for New Mexicans, and partners with Ageing and Long Term Services.  NMDVR assist individuals who receive Social Security benefits. The Work Incentive Planning & Assistance Program, Community Work Incentive Coordinators help individuals who receive Social Security benefits.
